Now Hiring ! Director of Recreation Summer Camp

The Wallington Board of Recreation is seeking organized and experienced individuals who love working with children, have a ton of positive energy, and are strong leaders. Responsibilities for the position are the following (but not limited to): recruiting participants for the summer camp, hiring/selecting counselors/volunteers, training of counselors, planning and executing activities/field trips, complying with public-health directives, and maintaining open communication with the members of the Wallington Board of Recreation.  In furtherance of the stated responsibilities, the Director of Recreation Summer Camp will put in place protocols for the appropriate use of public property, equipment and facilities used by program participants and staff throughout the duration of the summer camp. 

The Director of Recreation Summer Camp will be expected to lead any marketing campaigns for summer-camp registration as well as publicity for camp-related events.  They will also maintain a clear ledger of participant registration and attendance as well as a detailed record of revenue and expenditures in accordance with a seasonal budget. The Director must provide a financial report and a general update on the proceedings of the summer camp at each regular meeting of the Wallington Board of Recreation -- with a comprehensive report due to the Board no later than a month following the conclusion of the camp.

The Director of Recreation Summer Camp will handle all communication with parents of participants and will respond to them in a timely manner.  The Director will prepare counselors/volunteers for the operation of the camp by arranging for criminal-backgrounds checks and CPR/first-aid training. 

Applicants for the position of Director of Recreation Summer Camp should have 3+ years’ experience in camp programming and/or after-school enrichment along with a BA in education, childhood development, or related field.  

Salary:  $10,200.00

Summer Hours:  7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Camp Season:  June 24, 2024 - August 2, 2024
