Gavlak 2020 Commencement Proposal:

Goal: To provide a memorable vehicular procession for the Gavlak 6th Grade Transition while adhering to the health and safety precautions necessitated by the COVID 19 pandemic.

Parade/Vehicular Procession: The vehicular procession will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020. The vehicles will stage in front of the “Bowlero” Bowling Lanes located at 299 Paterson Ave., Wallington, NJ. starting at 12:30 p.m. A member of the school staff will provide a placard for each vehicle as they come into the parking lot.  The procession will end at the Wallington Gavlak school. Some of the details and parameters would be:

Each of our students will be allowed 1 car in the parade. It is estimated that there will be approximately 96 vehicles in the procession.

The parade route will be west on Paterson Ave., then a right turn onto Union Blvd. to pass the Wallington Civic Center. Once past the Civic Center, the procession will make a right turn onto Maple Ave., and then a left turn onto Locust Ave. The procession will proceed straight from Locust Ave to Main Ave. and make a right turn onto Reservoir Ave. Once on Reservoir Ave., the procession will turn right onto Pulaski Ave. and enter the rear parking lot of the Wallington High School. After exiting the rear parking lot, all vehicles will make a left turn onto Alden and then a left turn onto King Street where it will then enter the Gavlak school property and travel around the school to end the procession.

Once the procession leaves the Gavlak School property, they will be directed to turn left onto Alden Street to depart the area. 

Wallington Police will lead the procession. All drivers are advised to drive with caution. They should also be advised to drive slowly over the speed bumps located on the Wallington school properties.

Family members or students are not to exit their vehicles while in the Bowlero parking lot or at any time during the procession.

There will be “No Parking” in front of the Civic Center during the procession.
